Diagnosis and Specialized Morphology
Species of Chryxinae are characterized by:
- short, transverse head
- corium distinct from membrane and without cubital cell
- forewing membrane with one cell
Taxonomic History
The monotypic Neotropical Chryxus Champion was originally given subfamily status by Champion (1897-1901). Since then, two additional monotypic genera have been placed in Chryxinae: Lentia Wygodzinsky and Wygodzinskyella Usinger.
