Diagnosis and Specialized Morphology

Species of Chryxinae are characterized by:

  1. short, transverse head
  2. corium distinct from membrane and without cubital cell
  3. forewing membrane with one cell


Taxonomic History

The monotypic Neotropical Chryxus Champion was originally given subfamily status by Champion (1897-1901). Since then, two additional monotypic genera have been placed in Chryxinae: Lentia Wygodzinsky and Wygodzinskyella Usinger.
